Dan & Emily ~ I Do

Yesterday I got the honour of photographing a wedding which my entire family has been looking forward to for a year. It was the day in which my Uncle Dan would marry his fiancee Emily.

Last year when they announced their engagement while we were camping, leading to my first ever engagement session. A lot has happened in the last year in their lives and mine, and yesterday was the ultimate celebration of a wonderful year.

Below is a photo from their engagement session, One year and a month to the date of their wedding, July 11th 2012.

Yesterday started off the same as any wedding day, although when I arrived at Emily's mom to photograph the girls the weather had taken an unfortunate turn for the worst. Likely the only Saturday it will rain all of August! But as they say, rain on your wedding day is good luck. Here is a few photos of the girls hectic morning.

Emily looked absolutely stunning in her wedding gown, and I knew without a doubt that Dan would have a giant smile on his face when he saw her.

Then it was time to go and visit the guys. When I arrived in Townsend the rain had just subsided and we got a few minutes to run outside and capture some images of the groomsmen before being forced to go back inside due to more rain fall.

Once everyone had arrived at the church (at which point the rain had stopped of course!) it was time to be seated for the Bride's beautiful entrance down the aisle. The ceremony was short and sweet and you could see every ounce of love for one another that Dan and Emily shared, clearly on their faces. It was a truly heart warming and touching ceremony.

Then we headed outside, into the scary looking clouds to capture some images with a 2012 Dodge Challenger ( a favourite of Emily's) in the colour of the day, orange!

As quickly as possible we rushed through some family photos, quite difficult as both sides have such large and loving families, but we were able to finish up everyone before the rain came down once again.

Just weeks after the announcement we were blessed with more great news, there would be a new grandchild in the family! Just this march Dan & Emily were blessed with a little boy named Wesley.

Unfortunately just as family photos finished up we were hit with rain again, and headed to Parkview Meadows to take a few pictures of the bridal party and bride and groom in their lovely dining area and lobby.

After a few final images of the bride and groom it was time to head to the reception.
Each table had containers of sand engraved with the names and date of the bride and groom for all of the guests to take home as a souvenir of the day.

After a delicious dinner it was time for the "Shoely Wed" Game, where both bride and groom had one of each others shoes and were asked questions such as "who is a better cook" to respond to the question they had a raise a shoe, either his or hers to answer the question. This brought about quite a bit of laughter from the guests.

Once everyone had settled in it was time for the bride and groom's first dance of their married life. Followed by a father daughter and mother son dance.

After all the dances were completed it was time to get the party started! And what a great party it was. Congrats Dan & Emily!

Thank you for allowing me to be such a special part of your big day and for hosting an incredible party!

Best wishes and much love.
Enjoy the next chapter of your lives together!
